With Sunday marking 100 days to go until Election Day, Alaskans know Mary Peltola is in this fight for Fish, Family, and Freedom – but Dan Sullivan doesn’t seem to have a slogan of his own. In the spirit of collaboration, the Alaska Democratic Party presents the following suggestions to reflect Sullivan’s long record of voting against Alaska’s interests time and time again:
“No Cost Left Unhiked”
Sullivan’s record of raising costs on Alaskans is unmatched. Sullivan has:
Voted eleven times for the war in Iran that spiked gas prices to nearly $5 a gallon across Alaska, raised costs on groceries and airfare, and forced small businesses to close.
Voted for costly tariffs and against the best interests of Alaskans each and every time they’ve come up for a vote (4/2/25, 4/30/25, 4/30/25, 10/28/25, 10/29/25, 10/30/25), raising costs on Alaska families by “hundreds of dollars.”
Voted seven times in less than two months against extending ACA tax credits, raising healthcare costs for Alaskans by an average of 125%.
“In DC, Out for Himself”
During his time in DC, Dan Sullivan has voted time and time again to benefit himself at Alaskans’ expense, tripling his wealth in the process and keeping his special interest donors happy. Sullivan has:
Reported up to $2 million in stock trades during his Senate tenure while simultaneously casting votes to pass higher costs on to Alaskans, with his stock portfolio dramatically outperforming the market multiple years in a row.
“Repeatedly voted to advance the interests” of the multi-billion dollar chemical company in which Sullivan himself holds up to $5 million in stock – RPM International – which is still receiving government contracts despite settling with the Department of Justice for “allegedly defrauding the federal government.” His record includes voting to “block[] an amendment that would have allowed the EPA to crack down on cancer-causing pollutants and substances.”
Broke federal law by failing to report tens of thousands of dollars in sales of stock in Mowi – the “world’s largest farmed salmon company” and a direct competitor to Alaska’s salmon fishermen.
Broke his promise to Alaskans to donate Pebble Mine-tied campaign cash and has continued cashing checks from the current Pebble CEO while staying silent publicly as executives push to resurrect the mine.
“Trawl Business Over Small Business”
Sullivan has made it clear that he will put factory trawlers before Alaska’s subsistence, sport, and family commercial fishermen at every turn. Sullivan has:
Taken hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from the trawling industry despite 70% of Alaskans supporting a ban on trawling.
Repeatedly stood in lockstep with his Lower 48 trawl donors, and has refused to support real regulatory legislation to rein in factory trawling during his time in the Senate.
Sat quietly on the sidelines as Alaskan fishermen, including subsistence, sport, and commercial, struggle under trawling-tied fishing restrictions across Alaska.
“Gutting Services Like A Fish”
When Alaskans are in need, Dan Sullivan is the last person they can turn to. Sullivan has:
Voted to slash more than $1 trillion from Medicaid, which about a third of Alaskans rely on, resulting in 10,000 less Alaskans being on Medicaid following his vote.
Backed DOGE cuts, including to FEMA disaster relief funding, abandoning Alaska communities in the wake of natural disaster.
Voted to defund local radio stations and emergency alert systems that rural Alaskans rely on for life-saving storm warnings – even as tsunami warnings were being broadcast on air.
