Alaska Democratic Party and State Representatives from Rural Alaska’s Suit Against Alaska Division of Elections Continues

State Representatives from Rural Alaska and the Alaska Democratic Party is suing the Division of Elections over its failure to open numerous rural absentee in person voting locations

The lawsuit over the Division of Elections’ failure to open early in-person-absentee rural voting locations continues, but the hearing scheduled to take place this morning was vacated as a result of an agreement in principle reached by the parties. The parties have agreed that the DOE will certify qualified individuals that the Rural Legislators and Alaska Democratic Party have recruited to serve as Absentee Voting Officials.

Already today, we are hearing back that multiple absentee voting locations listed as open are in reality closed and not available. We hope the DOE will not have any of these failures on Election Day – but we are ready to act if needed.
