Preserving Our Future
Future generations of Alaskans are failing to meet their full potential, and it isn’t their fault. If we want to preserve the future, it’s time for us to take action today.
Do you want to ensure that our children have the tools to succeed throughout the rest of their lives?
The future of our state is tied to the state of our education system today. Our students are our future, and yet day after day they are going to schools that are underfunded working with shoestring budgets, being taught by educators who are overworked and underpaid. It doesn’t have to be this way. Our schools don’t have to be on the verge of shutting down due to budget shortfalls. We can have well-funded schools staffed by educators who aren’t struggling to get by in their own right, we just need leaders who recognize their importance and are willing to invest in our future.
Our future can be secured, we just need to take the steps to secure it. That means:
- Supporting increases to school funding, like the BSA increase which was so unfortunately vetoed by our governor and his Republican cronies.
- Giving our students a seat at the table and hearing their concerns so that we can shape an education system that meets their needs and gives them the tools they need while providing them with the support they want.
- Fighting for proper pay for our educators to ensure that they can spend their time crafting their lesson plans instead of worrying about their bills and finances.
Alaska Dems are on the forefront of the fight for a better, well-funded education system in Alaska. When you look at our efforts compared to those of our Republican counterparts, it’s clear that there is only one party that can be entrusted with our future, and it isn’t the one vetoing critical education legislation.
