Sen. Dan Sullivan recently sat down for an interview and painted a rosy picture of his time in DC. According to him, Alaska is thriving, families are doing better, and health care is becoming more affordable.
But when you look past the talking points, the facts tell a very different story.
Let’s break it down.
Claim: “We’re focusing on Alaska… really big Alaska dreams.”
Reality: Sullivan voted for the so-called “Big, Bullshit Bill,” legislation that slashed funding for affordable health care and food assistance programs that thousands of Alaskans depend on just to get by.
If this is his vision for Alaska’s future, it’s no surprise families across the state are struggling to make ends meet.
Claim: “The Alaska comeback is happening… putting more money in the wallets of working families and seniors.”
Reality: Alaska continues to face some of the highest grocery prices in the nation. Wages are not keeping pace with inflation. Families are being forced to choose between rent, food, and lifesaving medications.
There is no “comeback” when people are falling further behind.
Claim: “We’re transforming Alaska health care to make it more affordable.”
Reality: The Rural Health Transformation Program does nothing to lower premiums or reduce out-of-pocket costs for families. Even worse, the funding can be clawed back if DC politicians decide Alaska isn’t following their political agenda.
That’s not stability. That’s uncertainty dressed up as reform.
Claim: “Democrats are about Alaska last.”
Reality: Sullivan’s own voting record shows who he really stands with — DC insiders and his billionaire buddies, not Alaska families. He has consistently voted against public radio funding, affordable health care, food assistance, and meaningful cost-of-living relief.
If anyone is putting Alaska last, it’s Dan Sullivan.
Alaskans Deserve Better Than Political Spin
Leadership isn’t about catchy phrases or feel-good interviews. It’s about the choices politicians make when it’s time to vote.
Alaskans deserve leaders who tell the truth, stand up for working families, protect rural communities, and fight for real solutions — not ones who talk about “Alaska dreams” while voting to make life harder for the people they represent.
The Alaska Democratic Party will continue holding politicians accountable and pushing for leadership that truly puts Alaska first.
