As fisherman and lifelong Alaskan Mary Peltola announces her plan to make energy affordable for Alaskans, Dan Sullivan is continuing to vote for the price-hiking war in Iran despite Alaska facing “an energy crisis of extraordinary and unprecedented scale” on the heels of his repeated votes against energy projects that would reduce energy costs for Alaskans.

“Because of Dan Sullivan’s energy price-hikes, Alaskans are going to be forced to choose between buying food and buying fuel this winter,” said Alaska Democratic Party Chair Eric Croft. “Sullivan has voted against projects to make energy more affordable, authorized a needless war in Iran, and now he’s leaving Alaskans to foot the bill.”

Alaska had the highest per capita energy consumption of any state with “extremely high costs,” and with Sullivan voting for the price-hiking war in Iran a staggering 12 times (3/4/26, 3/18/26, 3/24/26, 4/15/26, 4/22/26, 5/13/26, 5/19/26, 6/16/26, 6/23/26, 6/24/26, 7/23/26, 7/30/26), it’s led to a “life and death” situation reflective of record high fuel prices.

• Dan Sullivan voted for the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which canceled approximately $275 million in Community Change and Solar for All grants for Alaska. 

• Sullivan voted against more than $306 million in energy funding in the Fairbanks-North Star Borough for wind power and battery storage.

• Sullivan voted against more than $120 million in energy funding on the Kenai Peninsula and in Kodiak for solar power and battery storage.

• Sullivan voted against more than $66 million in energy funding in Western Alaska for wind power, solar power, and battery storage.

• Sullivan voted against more than $52 million in energy funding in Southeast Alaska for heat pumps and hydroelectric power.

• Sullivan voted against more than $32 million in energy funding in Interior Alaska for solar power and battery storage.

• Sullivan voted against more than $18 million in energy funding along the Bering Sea and in the Aleutians for wind power and other renewable energy sources.
