Sullivan wrote off abortion as an “emotional issue,” celebrated SCOTUS decision that gutted federal protections for women’s right to choose.
On the anniversary of the United States Supreme Court case, Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, Alaskans remember when Dan Sullivan cheered the Dobbs decision that stripped women of their right to choose and paved the way for extremist abortion bans while writing off reproductive rights as an “emotional issue.”
“Dan Sullivan has spent his entire career working against Alaskans’ fundamental rights and access to healthcare,” said Alaska Democratic Party Chair Eric Croft. “Sullivan voted for and cosponsored multiple national abortion bans and cheered when the Supreme Court ripped away women’s rights. He is anti-choice, anti-freedom, and has shown time and time again that he will not stand up for Alaskans’ autonomy.”
Dan Sullivan’s extreme anti-freedom record speaks for itself:
Sullivan said he personally did not support abortion even in cases of rape, incest, or when the woman’s life is at risk, describing himself as “pro-life as they come.” He dismissed reproductive rights as an “emotional issue.”
Sullivan has repeatedly co-sponsored and voted for national abortion bans so extreme it could jail doctors, breaking with members of his party.
Sullivan signed an amicus brief to urge the United States Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade, then celebrated the Dobbs decision that rolled back 50 years of reproductive rights.
Sullivan is endorsed by Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, a dark money group that only backs candidates who support a national abortion ban.
In addition to his attacks on Alaskans’ reproductive rights, Sullivan has Sullivan has repeatedly voted to make health care more expensive and less accessible, jeopardizing reproductive health care for women across the state (9/30/25, 10/1/25, 10/3/25, 10/6/25, 10/8/25, 10/9/25, 11/10/25, 04/23/26).
