REMINDER: Dan Sullivan Has Repeatedly Advanced the Interests of RPM International, His Largest Stock Holding, While in the Senate

Dan Sullivan has a record of using his position in the U.S. Senate to enrich himself and benefit the multibillion-dollar chemical company RPM International, his largest stock holding that is run by his brother. Most recently, it was revealed that Sullivan has leveraged his position in the U.S. Senate to try to shield RPM from financial liability for using cancer-causing PFAS in their products.

“Dan Sullivan’s self-interest knows no bounds,” said Alaska Democratic Party Chair Eric Croft. “Sullivan is prioritizing the interests of himself and his biggest stock holding at the expense of Alaskans while they suffer through a cost of living crisis he’s created. Alaskans will remember this disqualifying behavior at the ballot box in November when they vote Dan Sullivan out.”

Read more about Dan Sullivan’s long record of enriching himself and advancing the interests of RPM International:

Profiting Off of Tariffs: Sullivan has “been rewarded for the company’s financial success” after RPM International raised costs on customers to respond to Sullivan’s tariffs. Sullivan has repeatedly backed the tariffs that are inflicting financial pain in Alaska.

Making Suspiciously-Timed Stock Trades: Dan Sullivan made several suspiciously timed stock trades in RPM International as a U.S. Senator, with some trades following closed-door meetings, including “briefings from federal health officials on COVID-19, before the full economic impact of the pandemic became clear to the public.”

Securing Tens of Millions in Tax Breaks: Dan Sullivan championed the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” (OBBBA) and the 2017 tax bill, which gave tens of millions of dollars in tax breaks to RPM International, benefiting Sullivan’s own bottom line.

Trying to Roll Back PFA Regulations: Dan Sullivan has “quietly backed efforts to rollback protections against forever chemicals,” which is particularly notable given that RPM International has faced legal challenges over its use of cancer-causing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, known as PFAS.
