On the 91st Anniversary of the Social Security Act being signed into law, Alaskans remember that Dan Sullivan has repeatedly voted against protecting (03/24/2015, 01/10/2017, 12/01/2017) and even to jeopardize Social Security benefits Alaskans have earned, proposed raising the retirement age, and created a “back door for privatizing Social Security.”
“Dan Sullivan has repeatedly undermined Social Security and jeopardized the retirement benefits that Alaskans have paid into their entire lives,” said Alaska Democratic Party Chair Eric Croft. “Alaskans have earned these benefits over decades of hard work, but Sullivan has refused to have their backs, proposing raising the retirement age and repeatedly voting against legislation that would protect Social Security from cuts. This is all while he and his Lower 48 billionaire backers get richer and Sullivan has tripled his personal wealth. Self-Serving Sullivan has put Alaska last every day in DC, and he will answer for his indefensible vote at the ballot box in November.”
See more on Sullivan’s abysmal record:
Sullivan proposed raising the retirement age for future Social Security beneficiaries, which would effectively cut benefits for future beneficiaries.
Sullivan backed DOGE, whose reckless cuts to the Social Security Administration jeopardized the entire Social Security system, causing benefit interruptions, chaos, and delays.
Sullivan suggested means-testing Social Security benefits, which would cut or eliminate benefits for certain beneficiaries and fundamentally change the nature of Social Security.
Sullivan repeatedly (03/24/2015, 01/10/2017, 12/01/2017) voted against legislation that would have protected Social Security by making it harder for Congress to cut program benefits, increase the retirement age, or privatize Social Security.
