Nick Begich Votes to Block Extension ACA Tax Credits As Health Care Costs Skyrocket for Alaskans

With ACA tax credits expired, Representative Nick Begich refused to stand up for Alaskans and blocked the bipartisan measure that would have extended these credits. 24,249 Alaskans are already seeing their health care premiums skyrocket, even double or triple – and with Nick Begich’s latest cowardice, this health care crisis will only get worse.

Alaska families are already struggling to afford the basics with skyrocketing grocery, energy, and housing costs, and Nick Begich consistently refuses to advocate for the best interests of Alaskans.

Alaska Democratic Party Chair Eric Croft:

“It’s no secret that Alaska families are already struggling because of rising grocery and energy prices, and now we’re facing a health care crisis because of self-serving politicians, like Nick Begich. After allowing lifesaving ACA tax credits to expire on December 31, Nick Begich doubled down on his betrayal of Alaska families and blocked the extension of these credits. We cannot afford these health care price hikes, and we won’t forget about Nick Begich’s betrayal this November.”
