Today, on the city’s 230th anniversary, the Alaska Democratic Party wishes Cleveland native Dan Sullivan a happy Cleveland Day, and recognizes his excellence in representing Ohio-based special interests.
“Happy Cleveland Day to Ohio’s most self-interested export, Dan Sullivan, who’s spent his time in the U.S. Senate enriching himself and voting to advance his stock portfolio at the expense of Alaskans,” said Alaska Democratic Party Chair Eric Croft. “Whether it’s special interests from DC or Ohio, there’s no one Dan Sullivan won’t sell Alaskans out to.”
Ohio Dan’s largest investment is the Ohio-based multibillion-dollar multinational chemical company RPM International, in which Sullivan holds up to $5 million in stock and is still raking in big federal contracts despite having allegedly defrauded the government and being forced to pay a $65 million fraud settlement as a result.
Sullivan has repeatedly voted to advance the interests of the multi-billion dollar chemical company, including blocking an amendment that would have allowed the EPA to crack down on cancer-causing pollutants and substances. Sullivan used eliminating fraud as an excuse to gut Medicaid for Alaskans, yet stays silent on allegedly fraudulent activity when it comes to his own personal interests in RPM International.
