Alaska Democratic Party Issues Statement on Matt Schultz’s Campaign Suspension

Alaskans across the state deserve clear, moral leadership that puts the needs of our state over outside interests and personal gain. Time and again, Nick Begich has put his own pocketbook and political gain before Alaskans. Matt Schultz made an extraordinarily difficult decision, and one that reflects the kind of integrity and selflessness Alaskans deserve from those seeking public office.

“Today, I am very sad for and very proud of my friend Matt Schultz.  Matt believes fiercely and, unlike many, lives his beliefs,” says Eric Croft, Chair of the Alaska Democratic Party. “He started this campaign for democracy, for freedom, for working Alaskans. He ran a great campaign. Today, he made the toughest decision in politics and he did it based on these same core values.”

Nick Begich is bad on healthcare, bad on the war, and bad for Alaska. Democrats remain focused on one goal: defeating Nick Begich and electing a representative who will always put Alaska first.
