Today at the Kodiak Fisheries Debate, Alaskans were reminded that Dan Sullivan has raked in nearly $300,000 from donors connected to the trawling industry despite the devastating impacts factory trawling has on Alaska’s ecosystem and economy while Lower 48 corporations profit.

FISH FACT: Dan Sullivan has taken hundreds of thousands of dollars from trawling industry donors.

FISH FACT: Dan Sullivan has repeatedly been in lockstep with his Lower 48 trawl donors, including one of his top donors Trident Seafoods, which was fined millions of dollars after repeatedly engaging in practices that harmed Alaska’s sea life. 

FISH FACT: Sullivan has refused to support real regulatory legislation to rein in factory trawling during his time in the Senate, instead, he’s sitting quietly on the sidelines as Alaskan fishermen, including subsistence, sport, and commercial, struggle under trawling-tied fishing restrictions across Alaska.

FISH FACT: Dan Sullivan’s ties to the trawling industry and anti-fish record are an election-year vulnerability for him, and in the eleventh hour, he introduced a bill that is “more of a virtue signal than a true stance of opposition.” Sullivan’s legislation is a watered down, toothless version of lifelong Alaskan and former commercial fisherman Mary Peltola’s 2024 legislation, which Sullivan refused to support.
