This National Maritime Day, Alaska’s maritime industry is weaker and coastal communities are worse-off thanks to Dan Sullivan’s Alaska-last agenda. While serving in the U.S. Senate, Self-Serving Sullivan has voted against more than $200 million in federal funding for the U.S. Coast Guard in Alaska and Alaska’s maritime industry – which supports 70,000 Alaskans’ jobs, delivers 90% of consumer goods in Alaska, and contributes billions of dollars annually to the Alaska economy.

“Our maritime industry is the lifeblood of coastal Alaska, and Dan Sullivan has been bleeding it dry one vote at a time,” said Alaska Democratic Party Chair Eric Croft. “These votes are just the tip of the iceberg. Self-Serving Sullivan sides with Lower 48 special interests against Alaskans every single time, to the detriment of our communities and our economy.”

In addition to voting against more than $200 million in federal funding associated with the Alaska maritime industry, Self-Serving Sullivan is also squeezing the industry with skyrocketing costs. As a result of the Sullivan-supported war in Iran, fuel prices have skyrocketed, forcing shipping companies to tighten margins and hike rates
