Get a Grift: Dan Sullivan Enriched Himself With Up to $2 Million in Reported Stock Trades While Raising Costs for Alaskans, Violating Transparency Laws & Ducking Anti-Corruption Reforms

As Dan Sullivan’s price-hiking agenda drives up costs on everything from groceries to healthcare, he’s been enriching himself at Alaskans’ expense. New reporting reveals Self-Serving Sullivan reported up to $2 million in stock trades during his Senate tenure while simultaneously casting votes to pass higher costs on to Alaskans – slashing healthcare, food assistance for veterans, and emergency alert systems Alaskans rely on.

“Self-Serving Sullivan doesn’t work for Alaskans, he works for the special interests he owns stock in,” said Alaska Democratic Party Chair Eric Croft. “He votes to hike costs on healthcare, housing, gas, and groceries while cashing in on Wall Street and breaking the law to hide his trades. Alaskans deserve better, and they’ll get it when they reject him in November.”

This week’s reporting revealed that Sullivan is the only member of Alaska’s congressional delegation to report any stock trades since 2015. It’s no wonder Sullivan has repeatedly refused to support anti-corruption reforms: He clearly doesn’t want to shut down the self-enrichment scheme, which has allowed his stock portfolio – including stocks in industries overseen by committees he sits on  – to dramatically outperform the market multiple years in a row.

Not only has Sullivan enriched himself at the expense of Alaskans, but he has also actually broken the law in the process. Sullivan violated the STOCK Act by failing to disclose trades in the world’s largest farmed salmon company.

In sharp contrast with Sullivan’s self-enrichment scheme, the piece highlights Mary Peltola’s leadership on anti-corruption reform: She has called for a congressional stock trading ban as part of her policy plan to fix Washington’s rigged system and put Alaska first.
