Alaska voters, from mushers to fishermen, are slamming Dan Sullivan for his cost-of-living crisis and corruption, and sharing why they’re supporting Mary Peltola this November.
A new CNN segment points out the skyrocketing cost of day-to-day living in Alaska, highlighting record-high gas, grocery, and healthcare costs as a result of Dan Sullivan’s policies.
One Alaskan, musher Alyssa Buser, who is voting for Mary Peltola, notes: “It’s crazy the amount of money that we spend on groceries, especially within the last year and a half. Food has just gone up so much. So I think it’s really important to vote and make sure that we have affordable food, affordable housing, that we have jobs, that we have healthcare.”
Alaskan Lisa Lynch also points out that Dan Sullivan “never had to rely on the fish runs to feed his family. He never had to worry about if they could have a moose in their freezer or go caribou hunting.”
And fisherman Andy Mezirow explains his support for Mary Peltola: “She’s, like, a real Alaskan that lives out in rural areas and has been a fisherman. She knows what it’s like to have a sore back at this time of year and sore hands. I think the decision point is: Do you want a change in the way things are going in DC, or do you like it the way it is? And if you frame it that way, it’s hard to like it the way it is.”
