Wilson, Bronson, Taylor want to divert funding from public schools to private schools
Bernadette Wilson, Dave Bronson, and Treg Taylor want to divert money from Alaska public schools to private schools. Their plan to “fix” Alaska schools is to slash education funding and to send taxpayer money to private schools.
- FACT: Bernadette Wilson sided with Governor Mike Dunleavy when he VETOED a bill that would have increased funding for public education by $183,000,000 per year.
- FACT: Dave Bronson, instead of funding schools and incentivizing great educators to build careers in Alaska, wants to implement a VOUCHER system, which would send hard-earned taxpayer dollars to private schools.
- FACT: Treg Taylor, as Attorney General, fought to allow millions of dollars in public funds to go to private education.
“A robust public education system is the cornerstone of what will make Alaska a place where more people put down roots, stay in Alaska, while also being the best way to create a great economy that works for everyone,” said Alaska Democratic Party Chair Eric Croft. “It is deeply disappointing to see candidates for governor who want to continue Mike Dunleavy’s failed policies. JKT will actually work to support students, teachers, and families, revive our neglected education system, and will work to bring prosperity to all Alaskans.”
