A new report from the Senate Joint Economic Committee reveals the stark impact of Dan Sullivan’s price-hiking agenda on Alaska – with the average household in Alaska spending $4,700+ more on goods and services as of June 2026 compared to 2024.
“Despite Alaskans repeatedly voicing how hard inflation is squeezing them, Dan Sullivan has continued to vote to jack up costs over and over again,” said Alaska Democratic Party Chair Eric Croft. “Sullivan’s record is clear: he’s an out-of-touch millionaire who has sold out Alaska to special interests. Alaskans won’t forget it.”
The report lays out the damage over the last years in stark terms:
Alaska families have had to spend $995 more on housing costs, including rent and mortgage payments.
Americans paid over $300 more for groceries in 2025 than 2024, with prices now 4% higher. The price of ground beef has gone up almost every month to a record high of over $7 per pound, while coffee grounds are nearly $10 per pound.
Alaskans have spent $132 million more on gas since the beginning of the price-hiking war in Iran, which Sullivan voted for eleven times.
Families in Alaska paid $50 more for electricity in 2025 than they did in 2024. And, in just the first six months of 2026, they are expected to spend an estimated $143 more for electricity than they did in the first half of 2024.
Monthly premiums for Affordable Care Act plans rose over 50 percent on average in 2026 compared to last year, while deductibles skyrocketed to record highs, going up by over $1,000 on average.
