Progress for Working Alaskans
On July 1st, Alaska’s new sick leave and minimum wage law officially took effect — marking a major step forward for working families. The new law ensures more Alaskans can take time off when they’re sick without fear of losing income, while also raising wages to help folks keep up with the rising cost of living. It’s a victory rooted in Democratic values: fair pay, dignity on the job, and respect for working people.
Annual Picnic Brings Us Together
We were thrilled to gather with so many of you at the Alaska Democrats’ Annual Picnic! With guest speaker Rep. Mary Peltola, it was a day of good food, great company, and renewed commitment to building a brighter future for Alaska. We’re so grateful for everyone who showed up, shared their stories, and helped make it a celebration to remember.

Meet our new Executive Director, Jenny-Marie Stryker!
Jenny-Marie Stryker has worked in Alaska politics since 2018. She comes to the party after spending more than five years as the Political Director for The Alaska Center, where she led The Alaska Center’s work to elect leaders who will champion a thriving, just, and sustainable future.
Outside of work, she can be found spending time outdoors with her partner and Malamute pup Nala, hiking (slowly), and cooking. She is honored to live and play on Dena’ina land, but originally grew up on Coastal Miwok land in the Bay Area, CA.
We’re working to strengthen our schools, support our families, and build a more vibrant and sustainable Alaska for everyone.
