SCOTUS Rules Against the Dan Sullivan-Backed Tariffs that are Wreaking Havoc on Alaska’s Economy and Spiking Prices

Sullivan has voted six different times to uphold tariffs that devastate Alaska families and small businesses.

Following the Supreme Court of the United States ruling that Trump’s tariffs are illegal, a reminder that Dan Sullivan has repeatedly voted to uphold the trade war that is wreaking havoc on Alaska’s economy – despite the fact that Alaska is “uniquely vulnerable” to tariff-driven price increases, and costs have skyrocketed for Alaskans on everything from groceries to housing.

“Self-serving Dan Sullivan has led the charge to uphold the chaotic tariffs that are crushing Alaska, voting to uphold them every single opportunity he had,” said Alaska Democratic Party Chair Eric Croft. “While Sullivan has gotten rich in office, Alaskans have been forced to pay the price of his agenda, which is raising the cost of health care, groceries, and housing. Dan Sullivan is only looking out for himself and has abandoned Alaskans, and that’s why we’re going to retire him at the ballot box in November.”

Every single time the U.S. Senate held a vote on tariffs in 2025, Sullivan voted to uphold them:

  • In April 2025, Sullivan voted against a joint resolution that would have terminated Trump’s tariffs on Canada.

  • In April 2025, Sullivan voted against tabling a resolution ending Trump’s national emergency that he declared to implement a 10% tariff on all U.S. trading partners.

  • In April 2025, Sullivan again voted against a different joint resolution that would have terminated Trump’s tariffs.

  • In October 2025, Sullivan voted against ending Trump’s national emergency that he declared to impose tariffs on Brazil.

  • In October 2025, Sullivan voted against ending Trump’s national emergency that he declared to impose tariffs on Canada.

  • And in October 2025, Sullivan also voted against ending Trump’s national emergency that he declared to implement a 10% tariff on all U.S. trading partners.
