Kay Brown / Executive Director
Since coming to Alaska in 1976, Kay has served as a journalist, an editor, a co-owner of a newspaper (the Alaska Advocate), a legislative policy analyst, a Special Assistant to the Commissioner of DNR, the Director of the Division of Minerals & Energy Management, the Director of the Division of Oil and Gas, an elected official for 10 years (the Alaska State House of Representatives), a radio talk show host, an executive director, the Alaska Democratic Party Communications Director, the head of the Alaska Democratic Party’s Coordinated Campaign, and a communications consultant and small business owner.
Leonard Lawson / Technology And Political Director
Born in Greensboro, NC, Leonard Lawson's first political campaign was as a volunteer knocking on doors for Gore in 2000. Since then he has worked in three states and for campaigns at every level from County Register of Deeds to Senator Hillary Clinton's Presidential Campaign in 2008. After the Democratic Primary, Leonard came to Alaska and worked as the Deputy Voterfile Manager for the rest of the 2008 cycle. In 2009, he was hired as State Voterfile manager for the Vermont Democratic Party and organized their 2009 party caucuses. At the beginning of 2010, Leonard returned to Alaska as the State Party's full time Voter File Manager. In the off-season, he can be found Alaska's beautiful trails hiking and camping around the state.
Zack Fields / Communications Director
Prior to joining the Democratic Party, Zack worked with Putting Alaskans First on an independent expenditure campaign in support of Hollis French, Bill Wielechowski, Joe Paskvan and Joe Thomas. He grew up in Richmond, Virginia and worked for Congressman Gerald E. Connolly in D.C. before he had the good fortune to move to Alaska. Outside of work he enjoys backcountry skiing, whitewater canoeing, packrafting, and mountain biking.
Peter Finn / Data Project Manager
Since moving to Alaska from Colorado at age 8, Peter has lived in Fort Yukon, Seward, and now Anchorage. Prior to working for the Democratic Party, he managed Patti Higgins for State House, worked for the Maine Democratic Party, for John Edwards for President, and Government Relations/IT Services at UAA. He first became interested in Alaska politics while advocating for the University of Alaska in Juneau. Outside the office he enjoys racquetball, bicycling, running, reading, strategy games, and going to the gym.

Katherine Pfeiffer / Development Director
Born and raised in Fairbanks, Katherine attended Portland State University in Oregon. After graduating she worked in politics in Oregon and 14 other states. After living and working outside for three decades on candidate, ballot measures and legislative issues, she decided it was time to move back home. Currently, she resides in Wasilla, enjoys cross country skiing and hanging out with her dog and cat.
Colin Palmer / Office Assistant
Born and raised in Eagle River, Colin Palmer graduated from Alaska Pacific University in 2012. Prior to joining the Alaska Democratic Party staff Colin served as the office manager for Victims for Justice and the student director of Alaska InvestNET. He also organized for Barack Obama's and Mark Begich's campaigns in 2008. Colin is passionate about economic policy, entrepreneurship, and baseball. Outside of work he enjoys traveling, sports, Alaskan beer, and American history.
